Infectious Agents Induce Wnt/β-Catenin Pathway Deregulation in Primary Liver Cancers

چکیده

Interaction between infectious agents and liver tissue, as well repeated extreme biological events beyond adaptive capacities, may result in pathological conditions predisposing people to development of primary cancers (PLCs). In adults, PLCs mainly comprise hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Various the hepatic microenvironment can destabilize normal cell functions by modulating Wnt/β-catenin pathway components. Among them, hepatotropic viruses B, C, D are involved signaling dysregulation. Other microbial agents, including oncogenic such Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) human papilloma (HPV), bacteria, e.g., Mycoplasma hyorhinis Salmonella Typhi, protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii, fungus Aspergillus flavus, flukes Clonorchissinensis or Opisthorchis viverrini, induce malignant transformation hepatocytes target cells biliary tract through aberrant Wnt activation. This review focuses on new insights into implicated deregulation PLC development. Since is a driver cancer following viral bacterial infections, molecules inhibiting complex axis could represent novel therapeutic approaches treatment.

MYC Deregulation in Primary Human Cancers

MYC regulates a complex biological program by transcriptionally activating and repressing its numerous target genes. As such, MYC is a master regulator of many processes, including cell cycle entry, ribosome biogenesis, and metabolism. In cancer, the activity of the MYC transcriptional network is frequently deregulated, contributing to the initiation and maintenance of disease. Deregulation oft...

Cancers in Australia in 2010 attributable to infectious agents

OBJECTIVES To estimate the proportion and numbers of cancers in Australia in 2010 attributable to infectious agents. METHODS The population attributable fraction (PAF) and number of cancers caused by hepatitis B and C viruses (HBV, HCV), Helicobacter pylori and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) were calculated using standard formulae incorporating prevalence of infection in the Australian po...

Please be direct and honest with me, and explain to me the truth about what you know about cancer in a manner that I, as a layman, will be able to understand what you tell me. Most importantly, what is cancer, and what causes cancer? If I have cancer, how long will I live, and will I have j...

Infectious Agents in the Pathogenesis of Primary Biliary Cirrhosis

Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is a chronic progressive cholestatic liver disease which is characterized by the breakdown of self-tolerance to the highly conserved pyruvate dehydrogenase complex, specially the pyruvate dehydrogenase E2 complex (PDC-E2). The breakdown of the tolerance to such antigens leads to an autoimmune process characterized by portal inflammation and immune-mediated destru...

The Role of Cyclooxygenase-2 in Signaling Pathways Promoting Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. Various factors are involved in the development and progression of this disease. One of these agents is cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). COX-2 is a product of the PTGS2 gene and converts free arachidonic acid to prostaglandins. COX-2 is not naturally expressed in most normal cells. Noticeably, the increased expression of COX-2 has been ...
